They’ve tried to put full Windows on phones – twice! – and nobody wanted that either. They’ve been trying to just kind of coast by on Windows 10, and as the above article notes, it’s been quite problematic. They tried combining the two into one with an adaptable UI – and everybody hated it. They’ve tried creating a version of Windows only capable of running ‘modern’ apps, and it failed – twice (and a third attempt is on the way). ![]() How much freedom to push the Windows platform forward do you really have when all users want is to run the same set of Win32 applications in perpetuity? ![]() They don’t want ‘modern’ apps forced upon them, they don’t want touch-optimised user interfaces, they don’t want application stores, and they certainly don’t want Windows anywhere else but their desktops and laptops. It seems most Windows users want Windows to just be… Windows. That’s a lot of reshuffling, but I wonder what the purpose of it all really is. We’ve seen plenty of evidence of that with a messy development experience for Windows 10, delayed Windows updates, a lack of major new features, and lots of Windows update issues recently. It’s an admission that the big Windows split didn’t work quite as planned. Specifically, that means the Windows fundamentals and developer experience teams have been returned to what we traditionally call the Windows team. Now, Microsoft is moving parts of Windows development back under Panos Panay’s control. Microsoft moved core Windows development to a cloud and AI team (Azure), and created a new group to work on Windows 10 “experiences” like apps, the Start menu, and new features. It follows Microsoft’s decision to slice Windows into two parts more than two years ago after the departure of former Windows chief Terry Myerson. ![]() The fact is, pickups are fêted on an electric guitar but often scorned on an acoustic. Something to be hidden out of sight – an ugly necessity that we'd rather pretend to ourselves, and our audiences, isn't there. Burnished, chromed, engraved, gold foiled, painted in camo or decorated in cartoon figures, electric guitar pickups proudly assert that this is an instrument that boasts muscular output and sublime tone.Ī visible acoustic pickup, on the other hand, is viewed as an unwanted appendage. Aesthetics is really important.īack to that dream electric, the pickups will be a stand-out visual feature. We want to see every angel step, bee's wing, cat's paw, flame, pommele and ribble. Take any top-end acoustic and it's a similar story. We guitarists demand that natural and sunburst finishes showcase every last square inch of exquisite figuring, or that solid paintwork is so thinly applied that even the subtlest grain shows through. It's a funny old world isn't it? Take any top-end electric guitar and, quite understandably, you'll expect it to be made from the finest tone woods available. We found the sensor delivered a spacious 3D-like quality to our playing, not just the percussive elements but our natural picking dynamics too. Essentially, it's taking the place of a microphone in a typical dual unit setup. In Fishman-speak that's touch, ambiance and percussion, hence the Tap moniker.Ĭurrently, the sensor is only bundled as part of a system with Fishman's excellent Rare Earth humbucker or its Infinity undersaddle piezo. Fishman has recently introduced its PowerTap body sensor, a small bridge plate mounted module that accurately picks up playing dynamics. We want our public to hear our every touch, our every tap, our every last percussive knock. Once upon a time we would have settled for a close to authentic guitar tone, the experience of delightfully sonorous notes drifting artfully from speaker to audience as we play. Percussive playing - tapping and the like - has become all the rage over the last decade or so, forcing players to re-evaluate what they want to hear over the PA. The mic adds the crucial ingredient of helping to capture your guitar’s natural sound more effectively. Mourning had a great three seasons in Charlotte, not just in stats: Mourning, along with Larry Johnson, led the Hornets to their first 50 win season. Due to his great season, he was named to the All-Rookie Team.īut he did lose out of the Rookie of the Year honor, to none other than O'Neal. Mourning had a terrific rookie season, averaging 21 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game. Only Shaquille O'Neal was picked ahead of Mourning. 2 overall by the Hornets back in the 1992 draft. He was also selected to the All-NBA Third Team. He was selected to the 1997 All-NBA Defensive Team. Mason was also a great defensive player for the team. Mason's first season as a Hornet was his best season. Yes, in Robert Parish's 21 year NBA career he did play for the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged double digits in points, grabbed monster boards, blocked shots, and was a force in the paint that not many could move over. He even made one All-Star appearance as a Hornet in 2003. Mashburn played four seasons for the Hornets and was a great player for the team, averaging 21 points and six rebounds a game. The list ranges from scoring machines, to three point specialists, to turn over creators, to players that came out ever night and just gave it their all for the Hornets. ![]() So, with that brief history of Hornets basketball, I am going to give you a list compiling the greatest players to have had the privilege of putting on that Hornets uniform. Now, yet another new crop of players are here: Chris Paul, David West, Emeka Okafor and Trevor Ariza-all trying to rebuild the playoff success the Hornets once had. So the Hornets moved to New Orleans, where they now reside. The Hornets were left with nothing, and decided a change of scenery was a must. Then once again those payers became all-stars and they were again packing their bags and off in a new direction. Brown and Jamal Mashburn all made their Hornets debuts. Then in the late 1990s and early 2000s another new crop of players came along. And in came a new crop of players: Glen Rice and Vlade Divac to name a few. Those three left or were traded after a few season of success. The team looked very promising with those three players on the roster, plus already having Muggsy Bogues and Dell Curry on the roster.īut, like nowadays, expansion teams and low market teams do not not go hand in hand with top notch players. They used those three picks to draft Kendall Gill, Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning. Starting through the drafts is the way for any expansion team to improve: the Hornets had the fifth overall pick in 1990, the first overall pick in 1991, and the second overall pick in 1992 They struggled at first, like many expansion teams do. The nanofluid showed Newtonian behavior in all the temperatures and concentrations. Moreover, the consistency index and power law index have been obtained by accurate curve fitting for samples with non-Newtonian behavior of nanofluids. The value of maximum enhancement is which occurred in 25 <. The results showed that viscosity has a direct relationship with solid volume fraction of the nanofluid. The measurement results at different shear rates showed that the base fluid and nanofluid samples with solid volume fractions of less than 0.5% had Newtonian behavior, while those with higher solid volume fractions (0.75 and 1%) exhibit a pseudoplastic rheological behavior with a power law index of less than unity. The nanofluid was prepared with solid volume fractions between 0.0625 and 1%, and experiments were performed in the temperature range of 25–50 <. In this paper, experimental investigation of the effects of volume concentration and temperature on dynamic viscosity of the hybrid nanofluid of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and aluminum oxide in a mixture of water (80%) and ethylene-glycol (20%) has been presented. Nanofluids are prepared by suspending the nanoparticles in the base fluid and can be substantially enhanced the heat transfer rate compared to the pure fluids. Investigations showed that maximum value for the margin of deviation for the proposed equation was equal to 8%, which is acceptable for an experimental equation. Due to the lack of a precise and appropriate equation for the prediction of dynamics viscosity of silver/ethylene glycol nanofluid, an equation was provided based on the measurement results, which was a function of volume fraction and temperature. Relative viscosity of the nanofluid increased approximately by 88.46, 90.44, 83.25, and 82.06% by increasing the volume fraction from 0.25 to 2% at 40, 45, 50, and 55 <, respectively. On the other hand, dynamic viscosity of the fluid decreases with increasing temperature. According the results, dynamic viscosity increases with increasing the volume fraction. Dynamics viscosity of nanofluid is measured using the DVI PRIME Brookfield digital viscometer which has a doublewall cylindrical container. In this experiment, the nanofluid was exposed to ultrasound waves for various durations to study the effect of this parameter on dynamic viscosity of the fluid. This does not yet include AV's latest tweaks (M3 above) - however the differences for most applications should be quite minor. This experimental study addressed developing a new model for the dynamic viscosity of silver/ethylene glycol nanofluid within the temperature range of 25–55 < for samples with volume fractions of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 1.5, and 2%. They were beaten in the final by Shakin' Stevens. In April 2005, Hue and Cry made a comeback when they won the fourth-week heat of the ITV1 pop-competition show Hit Me Baby One More Time with a rendition of "Labour of Love" and a cover of Beyoncé's " Crazy in Love". The intended third album on Linn Records was never produced, as the brothers concentrated on their solo projects – Pat with his writing and solo performing, and Greg with his music production. The album contained a cover of Prince's " Sign 'O' the Times", which they stripped bare and built up again as an aggressive bebop number. Next Move (1999) featured drum 'n' bass, R&B and Nuyorican Latin- funk. They included Michael Brecker ( tenor sax) and Randy Brecker (trumpet) – who had played on the Remote album – as well as guitarist Mike Stern (sidesman with Miles Davis), drummer Danny Gottlieb ( Pat Metheny) and saxophonist Tommy Smith. The album was recorded in a week during the Glasgow Jazz Festival, enlisting the services of some of the jazz musicians visiting the city. First came JazzNotJazz, an album that mixed jazz with non-jazz sounds. In 1996 Hue and Cry signed to the Scottish jazz and classical record label, Linn Records, for an intended trilogy of albums. Since you need a full party with all the exploration skills available, any of the later Wasteland 3 companions you get will require you to rework your team in order to make a place for them. Cordite and Fishlips come around 1/3rd of the way through and Pizepi/Vic come extremely late. Frankly, you’re going to be picking from Kwon, Lucia, Jodie and Scotchmo for most of the game. ![]() The main thing that really separates these Wasteland 3 companions, when it comes to actually playing the game, is when you get them. Since you have 4 player-created characters and most of the companions are imperfect, it’s probably best to just use whoever has the personality that you like the most. To be honest, min-maxing aside, you should pick whichever Wasteland 3 companions you like the most. Mechanics, Animal Whisperer and Sniper Rifles all do absolutely nothing for one another, and it’s difficult for her to specialize in any of themĪlso, you’re most likely going to want to make your own Sniper because you’ll want to have Death Wish or Sadomasochist on your Sniper, and Jodie doesn’t have any quirk at all. The thing is that her build just isn’t cohesive at all. Jodie’s attributes aren’t horrible, but that’s about all that’s good about her. Which might seem alright until you realize you can reequip your Quick Slots at any time, even in combat. To top it off, her unique Background is terrible. You get Jodie Bell fairly early, so you’d think that she’d be more customizable then other characters, but even coming in at level 6 or so, her skill points are all completely messed up. His attributes aren’t horrible, but they’re far from ideal. ![]() The only things Vic has that are really messed up are his perk selections and his attributes. His 7 points in Hard Ass aren’t particularly useful since you’re almost guaranteed to have a Hard Ass character already by the time you reach him, but just like with Scotchmo’s Lockpicking, you can always re-create your custom characters to free up points for them while allowing Vic to become your new Hard Ass specialist. You can easily have Vic wield the Jackhammer and a Minigun and just plow through content. ![]() He has points in both Small Arms and Big Guns, which might seem like a waste at first, except that the level 7 Small Arms perk, Draw!, works with all weapons, including big guns. Out of all the companions, his unique Background is probably the best (maybe 2nd best after Lucia), as it grants +5% critical hit chance. Other than that, he’s a very strong companion who doesn’t have a lot of wasted points. The main problem with Victory Buchanan is that, unless you’re playing the game for the 2nd or 3rd time and you’re skipping around in the story, you get him extremely late in the game after a lot of the content has already been completed. It might not seem like it at first, but Lucia is probably the best of the Wasteland 3 companions, although it requires some extra work. Lucia is also a good candidate for maxing out Leadership since it synergizes well with the bonus strike rate she’ll want from Charisma. Or, you can keep her with Pistols and use the +5% strike chance for Pistols perk to launch Strikes almost every turn. You can finish off Small Arms and switch her over to Shotguns and equip her with a Jackhammer, which pretty much takes out whole clumps of enemies by itself. You can take Small Arms up to level 7 for the Draw! Perk and then get her to level 10 Sniper Rifles and use her to fire off the best Sniper Rifle multiple times per round. There are a number of things you can do with her to make her extremely powerful. ![]() Her points in Survival are… not ideal (survival is not a good skill), but other than that she’s just got Small Arms and Barter, which makes her almost as customizable as Kwon. Like Kwon, you get Lucia early so she doesn’t have too many wasted points. If not, her strike rate will still be extremely high. If you combine that with Kickboy’s utility, you can get her up to a 40%+ strike rate by the end of the game if you invest in Charisma. Unlike most other party members, Lucia’s unique background actually helps out significantly. ![]() ![]() ![]() By opening up public data, Colorado is providing fuel for entrepreneurs, researchers, and citizens to build innovative solutions and create insights.
